Bas van Cranenbroek

Bas"My name is Bas van Cranenbroek. I am 29 years old and work at Eurovet as co-foreman. After living the single life for a few years, I moved into a newly built house with my partner two years ago. Now that we have our home just as we want it, we can look back with a feeling of satisfaction at this flying start. And we’re looking ahead too: from 18 September 2009 we’ll be able to call ourselves husband and wife.

I started at Vetimex in mid-1999. While studying, a job vacancy advertised in a regional newspaper caught my eye. But because I was still studying at the time, I didn't bother to apply. But once my study programme had been completed, I sent the organisation a letter expressing interest. I was invited for an interview, had a pleasant talk and was given a tour of the company by the then head of Production. Before I was even back home, the company phoned me to say I could start straight away if I was interested in the job.

A short time later, it was decided to combine the brand names Vetimex, Eurovet and Farvet and continue operations under the new company name Eurovet Animal Health.

My job at Eurovet is that of co-foreman. In the production departments we distinguish between Wet Production and Dry Production. In the last few years I have supervised two of the three Dry Production sub-departments. That is where we produce veterinary medicinal products in powder form, including antibiotics, penicillin and vitamin preparations. Wet Production is where we produce injection fluids, suspensions and emulsions and the like. We manufacture all of these products under our own Eurovet label, but we also produce medicinal products for various multinationals.

One condition for putting a good product on the market is to have qualified personnel. Hence we train colleagues here up to the level of Pharmaceutical Specialist and Pharmaceutical Engineer, among others. All formulas must be produced in accordance with the Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines.

The first step in a preparation is to ensure that the correct documents are present. Then you need to gather all the necessary raw materials, which you then weigh out in the correct quantities under controlled conditions. A colleague then checks whether all components have been corrected weighed and have the correct article numbers, charge numbers and weights.

In general I am very satisfied with my job and the working atmosphere at Eurovet. The excellent results of the past few years have given Eurovet a reason to show its appreciation of its employees. This is reflected in the fact that the company regularly organises trips, socials and other events."
