Solacyl introduction
01-08-2008
Last June Eurovet Animal Health launched Solacyl in Germany, Belgium and Denmark. Further launches are planned for the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain and several eastern European countries.
Solaycl contains 100% sodium salicylate. This active ingredient belongs to the group of salicylates, substances whose properties include an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effect. As Solacyl reduces fever and pain, it is well suited for treating infections that are accompanied by a fever. The product can be administered in combination with antibiotics.
An important property of Solacyl is its superior solubility in water. Even at extremely high concentrations, it can be easily dissolved in water. This property is a major advantage compared to other salicylates. Aspirin, for example, is barely water soluble.
Another interesting advantage of Solacyl is that it has a withdrawal period of 0 days before slaughter. This means that, even when administered to heavy animals shortly before they reach their slaughter weight, there is no danger of residues remaining in the meat.
A product that combines all these beneficial properties is unknown in many European countries. Consequently, its launch in Belgium and Germany was a resounding success. Veterinarians are particularly enthusiastic about Solacyl because it provides them with an effective, easy-to-administer and low labour-intensive weapon in their fight against veterinary problems.
