Animal |Pharm AwardThe Animal Health Company of the Year award honours outstanding achievement by an animal health company. The judges look for excellent performance across a range of business activities between June 1 2006 and May 31 2007, from growing sales and profits and improving shareholder value to significant new drug launches or the creation of an attention-grabbing pipeline. It might also include outstanding achievement by a company in turning itself around following a difficult period.

Eurovet Animal Health, a subsidiary of AUV (the Dutch veterinary cooperative), is a leading international veterinary pharmaceutical company that since its establishment has developed into a national and international supplier of high quality veterinary medicines. The judges said that it had achieved significant growth through product development and international expansion. In the last two years Eurovet has doubled its turnover to €56 million and increased profits in 2006 by 92% and projects bottom line growth in 2007 of 45%. In 2006 it has become one of the top 10 German suppliers of veterinary medicines a position which Eurovet also holds in the Netherlands and Belgium. It also expanded its product range to include a new treatment for hypothyroidism in dogs which is the first veterinary licensed product in the EU and is marketed throughout Europe under the name Forthyron.

Excellent performance, growing sales and profits
In 2005 Eurovet acquired the German veterinary products supplier Albert Albrecht GmbH. In 2006 and 2007 Eurovet has been successful in integrating this company into it’s organisation, while at the same time growing the business in Germany substantially, moving Albrecht in 2007 into the top 10 of German pharmaceutical suppliers, and outperforming the other top 10 companies.

New drug launches and attention-grabbing pipeline
In the past 12-18 months Eurovet has successfully completed 3 mutual recognition procedures, with subsequent launches in up to 20 European markets. In addition a number of national registrations and product launches have been achieved within the EU and around the world for a varied range of products for both companion animals and livestock.

Turning itself around following a difficult period
In June of 2006 Eurovet was faced with a challenge, a fire broke out in the sterile and non sterile liquids production facility. The fire damage to the complete facilities was limited; however the sterile and non sterile liquids departments were lost. In addition the fire caused extensive smoke damage throughout the whole facility. With the assistance of specialised companies, the management and employees of Eurovet conducted a massive cleaning campaign in order to put the company back on its feet as quickly as possible. Within a month all departments were fully operational excluding the liquids department.
We are proud to announce that the liquid department has been rebuilt and are since August fully operational and will soon be opened officially.
