Sterile Fluids The Sterile Fluids department produces and packages sterile injectable fluids. Because of the risk of microbiological contamination, this department is completely separated from the others and strict rules regarding equipment and staff apply. A separate work area has been set up for products containing penicillin. Some important injectables include Rapidexon®, Domidin®, Sedator® and Atipam®. Oral Fluids The Oral Fluids department produces and packages non-sterile fluids in one-litre bottles. These fluids are administered to animals via their drinking water. One example of our oral fluids is Methoxasol-T®. Water Soluble Powders The Water Soluble Powders department mixes powders and packages them in sachets of 2.5 grams to 5 kg sacks. Most powders are packaged in pre-printed foils using vertical moulding, filling and sealing machinery. These powders are administered by dissolving them in drinking water. Some well-known products in this segment are Soludox® and Octacillin®.
Premix The Premix department mixes and packages powders in mostly pre-printed 1-25 kg bags. These powders can be added directly to the animal’s feed. All premix powders consist chiefly of a carrier, corn meal for example, with a small amount of active ingredient (the actual drug).
Toll Manufacturing The Toll Manufacturing department fills and packs powders in bulk in pots, sacks or cans which then move on to the labelling line.
Labels and Packaging In the Packaging department the end product is labelled and, if necessary, placed in a cardboard box, and then packaged in trays or boxes ready for shipping to the client. This department also prints the batch numbers and expiry dates on labels and packaging materials for all the other departments. The Packaging department is also responsible for managing the label, printed boxes and package leaflet supply.
